The recordings made at the 1932 Arab Music Congress were not accessible for decades until the French National Library (BNF) published them entirely, for the first time, in 2015. In conjunction with the BNF, the Beyond 1932 project agreed to highlight and disseminate a part of them, in a series of short podcasts.
In these podcasts, Farid Ghrich conducts interviews with artists and key French scholars and experts involved in the analysis, digitization, audio restoration and publication of the 1932 recordings. The first podcasts will be in French, with English and Arabic episodes to follow.
For this project, we received a grant from the King’s College Impact Acceleration Account (IAA), supported by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC).
